Organic & certification
Are Odyssey wines certified organic?
Yes. Odyssey Wines is certified organic by BioGro New Zealand — licence 5330, certified since 2013. We farmed organically for years before certifying. Every Odyssey, Homer and Hebe wine is grown and made under BioGro organic standards.
What does BioGro certification mean?
BioGro is New Zealand's largest organic certifier. Certification means our vineyards and winemaking are independently audited every year: no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers, with organic practice verified from vine to bottle.
Do Odyssey wines contain sulphites?
We use very low levels of sulphites across the range. Hebe has almost none — around 10ppm added before bottling. The barrel-fermented Chardonnays (HERA and Iliad) and all our Pinot Noirs are also very low. Because our fruit quality is high in the vineyard, we don't need sulphur to protect the wine from disease. As required by law, labels state "contains sulphites".
Are Odyssey wines vegan-friendly?
The Homer range, Odyssey Sauvignon Blanc and Odyssey Pinot Gris are vegan-friendly. Some of our other wines may use traditional fining methods — ask us about a specific wine and vintage.
Where are the vineyards?
Our 68 acres are in Marlborough's Brancott Valley, with Chardonnay fruit from Gisborne. All wines are single vineyard. More on the Vineyards page.
Our wines
What is a field blend?
A field blend is a wine made from different grape varieties fermented and blended together. Our Hebe White is a field blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay — aromatic with good body, and happy alongside most foods. Serve at about 14°C.
What is a chilled red?
A red wine made to be served chilled — soft tannins, refreshing and fruity. Our Hebe Red is best at 10–14°C, straight from a short spell in the fridge.
Buying & delivery
Where do you deliver?
We ship directly all over New Zealand. Auckland is overnight; allow 2 days for the rest of the North Island (3–4 for rural addresses) and 2–3 days for the South Island.
What does delivery cost? Is there a minimum order?
Auckland $5, North Island $10, South Island $15. No minimum order.
Can you ship overseas?
Yes — international orders are handled by Wine Collective Direct.
Are there age requirements for ordering?
Yes. Both the buyer and the receiver of any order must be 18 years or over. Our off-licence details are on the Contact page.
Visiting
Do you have a cellar door?
No — we don't have a cellar door and aren't open to the public. You can buy our wines right here online, or from selected retailers and restaurants around New Zealand.
